Job Descriptions:
Research laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs, or other information related to various types of cases and prepare briefs, legal memoranda, or statements of issues involved in cases, including appropriate suggestions or recommendations.
Confer with lawyers concerning legal questions and construction of documents.
Review judicial opinions, decisions, citations, complaints, petitions, motions and pleadings to determine issues involved or basis for relief.
Keep abreast of changes in the law and inform lawyers when cases are affected by such changes. Verify that all files, complaints, or other papers are available and in the proper order.
Enter information into computerized calendar, filing, or case management system and review pending matters to ensure adequate and timely progress.
Communicate with counsel regarding case management or procedural requirements.
Respond to questions from legal staff on general legal issues and provide advanced litigation support to attorneys for government processes and federal court cases.
Coordinate meeting and appointment schedules and participate in conferences or discussions between attorneys and clients, effectively communicating with Chinese clients, utilizing analytical and conceptual thinking as expressed both in writing and orally, in the preparation of testimony and evidence.
Prepare reports as required and maintain law libraries by assembling or updating appropriate documents.
Minimum Requirements:
Master of Law degree plus minimum 1 year experience as a legal assistant or in a closely related occupation.
